About us

The Victorian Cancer Agency (VCA) has been established to facilitate cancer research across Victoria. This research, and its translation into the clinical setting, is part of a complex and multi-faceted process. It is our goal to streamline and assist this process to improve clinical practice and care of cancer patients.

We work with a broad range of stakeholders, including members of the Victorian cancer research community and their host institutes; members of the clinical cancer community and their hospitals; Integrated Cancer Services; existing cancer organisations and charities; and related industry groups, including biotechnology companies and commercial clinical trial organisations.

Broadly, the functions of the VCA include:

  • Setting strategic priorities for cancer research across Victoria
  • Building cancer research capacity and capability in Victoria
  • Fostering collaborative relationships between key stakeholders
  • Adding value to existing state-wide initiatives and programs
  • Providing strategic advice to government on all aspects of cancer research.
