Approach

We will take a consultative approach to the development of the strategy and will ensure that its recommendations are in line with international best practice. The final strategy will:

• Identify and address gaps in Victoria’s research efforts
• Not duplicate existing initiatives, but look at innovative solutions 
• Focus on translational research and enablers of translational research

Development

The development of the strategy will build on work undertaken by the Ministerial Taskforce for Cancer - Research Working Group, which included a comprehensive survey of current cancer research activity in Victoria.

We will use local action groups and public forums to encourage discussion and debate about priority areas of the strategy, and in doing so, hope to unite a broad range of stakeholders.

The Agency will also gain national and international input during the process to ensure that a detailed, considered and achievable strategy is produced.
