  • Provide limited seed funding to encourage and retain talented individuals in the field of prostate cancer research in Victoria.

The Richard Pratt Fellowships in Prostate Cancer Research are available to:

  • Support the salary of the researcher
  • Support the direct research costs of undertaking the research project
  • Facilitate collaboration related to the research project

Early Career Seed Grant

Victorian Cancer Agency Early Career Seed Grants are designed to support early career researchers undertaking high quality translational cancer research. The grants provide seed funding to encourage and retain talented individuals in the field of cancer research in Victoria.

The objectives of the Early Career Seed Grants are to:
  • Support high quality cancer research conducted by early career researchers who are able to demonstrate clear evidence of translational research capacity
  • Provide limited seed funding as a means of enhancing competitiveness of early career researchers to enable leverage of further funding from granting bodies or industry

One of the priority areas for the Victorian Cancer Agency is building cancer research capacity and capability in the field of supportive care, palliative care and survivorship in cancer. To address this priority, the Agency is offering Palliative and Supportive Care Research Scholarships.

Palliative and Supportive Care Scholarships are aimed at increasing the number of researchers that are able to conduct high quality research into palliative care, supportive care and survivorship.

Palliative and Supportive Care Capacity Building Grant

Palliative and Supportive Care Capacity Building Grants are aimed at providing one-off seed funding for infrastructure that will support cancer research. This may include:

  • Physical infrastructure
  • Salary support to enable time to be dedicated to research
  • Staffing requirements
  • Training and education of staff
  • Other areas as identified by applicants that directly relate to research in supportive care, palliative care and survivorship that meet the generic and criteria of the Victorian Cancer Agency.

2010

The Agency offered targeted support for health services to increase the recruitment of patients onto cancer clinical trials. Funding provided by the Victorian Cancer Agency for these grants must be used to support cancer related investigator-initiated trials.

Organisations involved in conducting clinical trials were invited to apply for salary support for staff associated with conducting clinical trials. Requests for funding beyond salary support were required to make a strong argument that the funding would substantially increase the number of patient recruited to investigator-initiated clinical trials.
Applications were required to be made on behalf of the organisation seeking support and not the individual researcher or clinical trial group. Organisations the Agency anticipated applications from included:
  • Rural, regional and metropolitan hospitals and health services
  • Victorian Universities
  • Cancer Services
  • Any other agency conducting clinical trials (please enquire before submitting your application).
