Supportive Care, Palliative Care and Survivorship are priority areas for the Victorian Cancer Agency. This program includes fellowships and scholarships as well as capacity building grants to support research in this area more broadly.
Victorian Cancer Agency supportive care fellowships and scholarships are aimed at increasing the pool of experienced researchers that are able to conduct high quality research into supportive care, palliative care and survivorship - leading to immediate patient benefit.
The Capacity Building Grants offer one-off seed funding for infrastructure. This may include:
- Physical infrastructure
- Salary support
- Training and education for staff

The Link and Learn grants will provide opportunity for collaborations or acquisition of specialised skills in another location in Victoria, Australia or internationally.
Previous grants have been used for conference attendance and training opportunities at various international locations and institutions.

Similar to the Supportive Care Capacity Building Grant, one-off seed funding requests for broad infrastructure requirements will be considered to facilitate cancer research in regional areas.
This may include:
- Physical infrastructure
- Salary support
- Training and education for staff

A variety of options to develop Victoria's effective use of platform technologies will be considered by the Agency. The Agency will not fund large pieces of platform technology procurement; rather the Agency is interested in developing appropriate platforms to support translational cancer research in Victoria and supporting the use of and increasing access to existing platform technologies.
Examples for use of funding may include:
- Training or accreditation of staff
- Funding payment for access to fee-for-service research services
- Unit audits or accreditations
- Building collaborative research teams

New to the Victorian Cancer Agency Funding Program in 2008-09, the Consumer Grant is designed to promote consumer involvement in translational cancer research.
Examples for use of funding may include:
- Training or education of consumers (such as preparation for involvement in consumer representative panels)
- Attendance at workshops or conferences
- Salary or participation costs to involve consumers in design or completion of translational cancer research projects
- Development of tools to assist consumer participation in research
