2007-08 funding opportunities

The following funding opportunities were available from the Victorian Cancer Agency in 2007-08 (applications closed 29 October 2007):

The Agency also called for expressions of interest for Platform Technology Capacity Building grants.

These opportunities are summarised below, and also in the following power point document and information sheet, presented by the Agency at four briefing sessions held during the week of 8 October 2007:

 


 Clinical trials and tumour stream research program

Within this program, funding was available to:

  • build capacity and capability in the area of cancer clinical trials
  • build capacity in translational research, and to strengthen partnerships between research institutions, hospitals and universities (with the aim of enhancing the translation of research into practice).

  Supportive care in cancer research program 

This program offered targeted funding for supportive care in cancer research. Funding was available in the form of:

  • infrastructure support
  • scholarships 
  • fellowships.

 Regional cancer research enabling program

The regional research support program offered targeted support for cancer research across regional Victoria. Funding was available for:

  • infrastructure support (including research workforce support) 
  • fellowships.

  Early career seed grants

Four Early Career Seed grants of $50,000 were available. These grants were aimed at early career clinician-researchers, or laboratory researchers, to encourage and retain talented individuals in the field of cancer research.

  Link and learn grants

Ten, Link and Learn grants of up to $5,000 were available to provide opportunity for collaborations, or acquisition of specialised skills, in another lab in Victoria, nationally or internationally.

 Expression of interest for platform technology capacity building grants

Expressions of interest were sought from individuals, or organisations, seeking support in the effective utilisation of platform technologies within Victoria, for example, in the form of training or workforce.
