2006-07 funding recipients

In 2006-07, the Agency provided over $2 million to cancer research in Victoria through programs, projects, people and infrastructure grants. These were awarded to excellent candidates in the following areas:

Supportive Care Research scholarship

Total funding: $72,693

Ms Annabel Pollard: The effectiveness of a randomised controlled trial of a behavioural intervention to promote adoption and adherence of health behaviours in breast cancer survivors. 


Clinician-Researcher fellowships

Total funding: $1,800,000

A/Prof Ian Davis: In situ immunology and biology of urological cancers.
Dr Lara Lipton: Optimising use of current treatments, and developing novel therapeutics, through greater understanding of the genetics of colorectal cancer development and prognosis.
Dr Kylie Mason: Modulation of the apoptotic pathway to treat haematological malignancy.
Dr David Thomas: Basic, translational and clinical research programme in adolescent and young adult cancer. 


Seed funding for regional clinical trials infrastructure

Total funding: $213,206

Dr Geoff Chong: Ballarat Base Hospital - 0.2 EFT research pharmacist, education, administration costs.
Dr Rob Blum: Bendigo Health - Data manager/nurse, administration costs.
Dr Ivor Burns: St Vincent’s Hospital - 0.2 EFT study coordinator, administration costs.
Dr Craig Underhill: Border Medical Oncology - Freezer, ECG machine.
Ms Anne Woollett: Barwon Health - Project officer, administration costs.
