About us
The Victorian Cancer Agency has been established to facilitate cancer research across Victoria. This research, and its translation into the clinical setting, is part of a complex and multi-faceted process. It is our goal to streamline and assist this process to improve clinical practice and care of cancer patients.
We are governed by a Consultative Council and work with a broad range of stakeholders, including members of the Victorian cancer research community and their host institutes; members of the clinical cancer community and their hospitals; Integrated Cancer Services; existing cancer organisations and charities; and related industry groups, including biotechnology companies and commercial clinical trial organisations.
Broadly, the functions of the Agency include:
- Setting strategic priorities for cancer research across Victoria
- Building cancer research capacity and capability in Victoria
- Fostering collaborative relationships between key stakeholders
- Adding value to existing state-wide initiatives and programs
- Providing high level, strategic advice to stakeholders and Government on all aspects of cancer research.
